What's everyone using for face wash?

So before I was pregnant, I was using a face wash and astringent with salicylic acid in them. Since then, I switched to using Cetaphil. My face hasn't been bad, but I've had a few small breakouts which I didn't have when I was using the other stuff. So what is everyone else using since we aren't supposed to be using certain products?

  • I use Cetaphil too- I guess it's okay but I liked my other stuff because it also took off my eye makeup :)

NBR: I've got a dog named Parker too ... very cute!

  • I am still using my pre-pregnancy scrub. It has salicylic acid but my doc said its ok to use. Just don't use any overnight/spot treatment with salicylic acid.

  • I"ve been using Aveda's Sensitive Face Wash. I like it, but I think I might switch to Cetaphil after I'm out of this. It's kind of pricey. I'll spend a little more money on moisturizers, but I had spending a lot on face wash.

  • Burts Bees. Love it. It's always what I used prepregnancy.

My Dr. did SA was okay as long it was OTC and 2% or less SA. He said the issue was with RX stuff or anything oral.

  • I used to use Aveeno's foaming cleanser, but it had some salicylic acid in it. Now I am using Aveeno sensitive cleanser. It's fine, but my skin looks like I'm 14.

  • Cetaphil and I love it. Doesn't make my face feel dry like the neutrogena I was using pre-pregnancy did.

  • I have been using the walmart version of St Ives medicated apricot Scrub.  I like it better than the St Ives brand.  I have been using it for years and my sister gets SOOO ticked off when I tell her I use that and coco butter on my face and thats it.  I am the party animal of the family who drinks and smokes and stays out late (not anymore...) whereas she is using high dollar washes and expensive creams and she breaks out like a teenager.

  • Mary Kay, same as before. It hadn't occurred to me to check the ingredients which I guess I'll do tonight, but it's for normal-to-dry so I'm pretty sure it doesn't contain SA.

  • I use Philosophy's Purity Made simple.  I was using cetaphil moistrizer but it isn't enough anymore.  So I using straight jojoba oil and I bought some eucerin cream to use on my really dry patches.  Pregnancy has made my skin SUPER dry and also caused me to have eczema in a few spots on my face.  It is hot. No

Oh, and I am probably the only person in the history of the world who had a horrible reaction to cetaphil cleanser. It made my skin burn like crazy and caused a nasty rash.  Not good.

Hahaha I use coco butter to moisturize too! It doesn't make my face feel oily like some moisturizers do!

For face wash I use Mary Kay Time Wise normal to dry and then Nuetragena alcohol free toner. I know they say using the same brand of products are better becuase they were made to go together, but I like my combination of three totally different products!

  • Formerly I was using like 5 different products (face wash, body wash, topicals and lotions) that had salicylic acid in them. My Dr said it's ok to use face wash products with salicylic acid but not topical treatments since they are soaked in. I've done a bit of adjusting. I still use my salicylic acid wash (I think it has like .05%) in the AM but now at night I use just plain Ivory soap (cheap and good!). I've switched to a ponds face lotion and cut out the acne body wash completely. My face is actually doing ok... my back is not.... very pimply but I've just accepted that. At least it's winter and I can hide it!
  • Cetaphil at night

I alternate between Aveeno Daily Scrub and Aveeno Foaming cleaner with salicylic acid, in the morning.

  • I have been using Neutrogena washes, alternating between Extra Gentle Cleanser and Fresh Foaming Cleanser (which I've had good luck with even though it has a mild fragrance).  I sometimes use scrubs, either Deep Clean Invigorating Foaming Scrub or Deep Clean Gentle Scrub.  I've had really good luck with them.  Normally I break out when I get my period, but since being pregnant, my skin has been very clear (knock on wood).

  • I use Mary Kay too. I love it and I won't stop using it...same as pre-pregnancy. I've used it since I was 12 years old when my mom started selling it- I've never had a problem with my skin and the ingredients are fine!

  • Philosophy Purity ... I have horrible ezcema and this is the only thing that doesn't irritate it, I have tried every aveeno and cetaphil product, along with dove. it is a little pricey though, but I have gotten used to it, considering I have to use aquphor or vaseline as body creme or goo hehe
  • Noxema...doesn't dry me out, and clears up any irritations I get!

  • I love Philosophy Purity but it can be a bit $$$. If you go to Costco, you can get 2 big bottles of Cetaphil for like 16 bucks! This stuff lasts forever and it's gentle. Also, once a week I use a sulfur clay mask to control breakouts. If you're interested I can get the link from Sephora. Seems to be working!

  • I use pan-oxyl soap with salicyic acid  in it.  Yes, bad I know but I'm not paranoid.

I use it on my chest and face 2-3x a week in the shower.

I use bio-oil (oil-based moisturizer) when I get out of the shower on my face because I have dry skin.

  • I was using my Obagi cleanser (no salicylic in it, although the other Obagi treatments are off-limits during pg). But then I started breaking out like crazy, so I tried the Belli acne facial cleanser. So far so good. My face has cleared up. I switch that up with Purpose, which I've used on and off for years anyway.

I asked my MK lady a few weeks ago--the only products that contain the ingredients that are possibly harmful are the Velocity products.  Everything else should be fine!

  • I use Lancome Mousse Radiance.  I will have to check the ingredients.  I get it for free as my mom works for the company but it's the only thing that has ever kept my face moisturized.  I knew nothing about not using products with salicylic acid in it.
