I had my first ob appointment this morning and my first u/s. Going into the appointment I thought (based on my lmp and opk) that my due date was 8/7/11, but the baby measured at 5.5w instead of somewhere around 8w (bascially 15 days behind). The doctor said she wasn't too worried since the heartbeat was in the 120s, but she does want to see me next week for another u/s to see if it's growing on schedule.
I know the best thing to do is not worry, but it would make me feel better if someone else out there had experienced this before and since this is my first pregnancy my head is spinning already...
It's impossible not to worry. How soon after the positive opk did you get a positive hpt? If you're pretty sure of your dates then measuring that far behind may indicate an issue but the only thing you can do is wait and see if next week the baby has grown by a week. A heartbeat is always a good sign and it being in the 120s is great.

Secondary infertility success with IVF, then two losses, one at 14 weeks and one at 10 weeks, then success with IUI and then just pure, crazy luck. Expecting our fifth in May as the result of a FET.
My LO was measuring 12 days behind at 20 weeks. I was also told to come in for a repeat the next week. By that time she was only measuring 4 days behind. They sometimes grow in spurts and won't measure exatly on track. Fingers crossed for a sticky growing baby.
I got a +OPK test on CD15 and CD16 and then I got a positive hpt on cd 31. I just don't understand if I ovulated later than that how I could have gotten a positive hpt so early??

Forgive me if my brain is fried, but if you were looking at your EDD as 8/7, you would only be a day ahead of me...not 8 weeks along. Am I wrong? In that case, you would only be measuring a few days behind instead of 15. I hope that's the case, anyways!
Are you sure the dr was right about how far along you're measuring? I didn't think there was a discernible h/b at less than 6 weeks especially one that is measurable and measuring that fast. I think you may be farther along than the dr said.

Maybe I should have asked the date of your lmp.
From the above, you have a little longer than average cycle and so basing something on your lmp would make a doc think you were further along than you really are, but only by a few days.

This! My EDD is August 8th and I am only 6 weeks 2 days? I don't see where you got the 8 weeks thing? So if you thought your EDD was 8/7 and the doctor is measuring you at 5.5 that is really only a couple days difference.
Also I agree with pp, most doctors agree that the heartbeat doesn't generally start to beat until 6 weeks, Sounds to me from your ultrasound and with that great heartbeat you are right on track!
Re: measuring 15 days behind (5.5w vs 8w)
going by LMP assumes you O'd on CD14. Most likely you O'd 2 weeks later than that.
if I were to go by LMP, I would be 30w already. 10 day difference since I O'd on CD24.
