Per this thread, we're hoping to condense a lot of the "gawker" threads into one! We thought this would make them more fun to browse and the board an easier read. We'll start a new thread every day to keep the list fresh.
Anyone is welcome to add to the post--local hospital names, the awful name you over heard at the park, Facebook horrors, and anything else that might give us a good chuckle! Feel free to comment, too
Re: Post your facebook, hospital & other name horrors here
A guy I dated in high school has a son named Ocean Maverick. I saw on FB yesterday that they're expecting a girl and deciding between Destiny and Kaydance. Poor kids.
Oscar born October 2011
Miscarriage at 8 weeks (August 2013)
DD due September 1, 2014
There was a CheyannaLeigh-Gracelynn at playgroup yesterday (seen on her "Hi, my name is..." tag, and her mom called her by this full name all day long)
Probably one we've all complained about before, but I just saw "Jaxson" on Facebook. I hate "Jaxon", but the "s" is just another useless letter in that name.
I took DS for pix with Santa the other day. Another mom was there and asked what his name was. I said, "Nicholas" he was supposed to be born in December, so we chose a classic Christmas baby-ish name for him (IMO). She said, "ohh, my DD was born last December and I did the same for her! Nevaeh!"
She pronounced it Na-veeee-ah though.
I was thinking, not to be a b!tch, but Nicholas is ten million times more classic and prettier than your stupid white trash made up name.
lol
Wow, Punky wins. And we can only hope she chose the "correct" spelling of Nevaeh.
I saw a FB status for a friend who was babysitting a Rubie. What the hell?

One of my friends from college just posted on FB that she named her DD Tristalyn Noel....

Recently it's been:

Oshun (Ocean)
Arein (Erin)
Kenin (Keenan)
I love when the kids laugh when I mispronounce a name, I really just want to laugh at them and say "Well at least my mom can spell my name correctly!" It's so annoying.....
MPZ born June 2011
TTC #2 ... Cycle 1-3: IUI = BFN | Cycle 4: IVF ... canceled but 3 snow babies
Cycle 5: FET .. BFP! | EDD - 3/15/2014
I've seen Oshun a few times on this board. Is it REALLY meant to be an alternative spelling of Ocean? It's a legitimate Yoruba name/word, but it's hard to tell if someone is using it because they have a West African connection.
This morning! Only at Walmart...
Walmart Shopper: "What a beautiful baby you have!"
Me: "Thanks! When are you due?" (She was very visibly pregnant.)
Walmart Shopper: "2 weeks. Its a girl!"
Me: "Congrats!"
Walmart Shopper: "Thanks! Her name will be Destiny Nevaeh."
Me:
Walmart Shopper: "Yeah, D-E-S-T-A-apostrophe-K-N-E-E, the K is silent!"
Me: "Desta'knee?" And I shoot a look over to her SO standing right there...
SO: "Don't look at me! I wanted Jordan!"
Me: "Well, good luck to you!"
WOW! How do you come up with something so awful? And we all know how everyone feels about Nevaeh.
I did not know that! We have quite a few Africans around here, but this particular girl was not African, at least not for SEVERAL generations.
I can't get over Desta'knee...at least it will never be pronounced wrong unless she wants it pronounced Destiny because that is not the way I pronounce that!
O.M.G....there are just no words...
