I'm looking for something I can use for quick hip carrying DD around the house. Also, what is the best fabric for RS? Is it better for it to be a stiffer fabric or a stretchy fabric?

I have a SBP and I *love* the pleated shoulder. Prefer pleats to gather (looks neater, feels more comfy and easier to spread out over my back), but it's really a personal decision.
Also, I believe maya only comes in linen, and SBP has a variety of fabrics (I have a tencel one, which my more experienced friend say will stretch more, but so far, so good).
On the flip side, maya has a padded shoulder, which I know some people love. Again, I don't notice the difference so much because my baby is only 11 pounds, but for a bigger baby, it may come in handy.
i have a maya, it's alright. i got it off the baby wearer FSOT forum for $25, and i would say it was worth the price. i'm not real good at using it, it feels ackward to me, but i think that has more to do with the type of carrier (i like wraps) then the actual maya wrap itself. i also really like the colors.
i don't know much about ring slings, but i would think you wouldn't want a super stretchy material as they wouldn't be as supportive. i have heard fantastic things about SBP wraps and they come in all kinds of fabrics.
Just got a SBP in european linen and LOVE it! It is easy and comfortable to use for quick trips. I also love the pleated shoulder. DD seems to like it too
I'd go with an SBP. I have a Maya, and while I like it, it's not at all supportive enough for a larger baby. I had to stop using it altogether with DS at around 15 months/25 lbs, if I remember correctly. The fabric is relatively lightweight and just wasn't keeping him in place anymore.
I do also have an SBP sling, but it's a Neobulle wrap conversion so I can't speak to her fabric choices. I do LOVE her shoulder though, much neater and more comfortable than the Maya.
Re: I need a ring sling: Maya Wrap or Sleeping Baby Productions?
