I'm not new to loss (unfortunately), but I am new to this board. I found out yesterday that my pregnancy is ectopic and I went back to the RE and got the methotrexate shot at 11am today.
How soon should I expect any physical pain or discomfort, and how long did it last for you? I picked up a prescription for Tylenol 3, but I'm not sure how to prepare for any time I will want off from work and to stay home.
And man, I could really use a big-ass glass of wine right now, but it's a no-no with the shot. Darn it.
Re: New and ? re: ectopic
I am so sorry for your loss. I just recently had surgery for an ectopic that burst my tube so I totaly know what you are going through. I didn't take the med since it was emergency surgery so I really don't have any answers for you just know that you aren't alone.
(((hugs)))
Hi there
I am so sorry for your loss and what you are going through. Because of my betas, and spotting my Dr. treated me for a potential ectopic as my numbers werent getting high enough to see anything and it was to risky to wait to see. I had my first injection 12/3 in the morning and about 7 hours later had some pretty heavy abdominal cramps. Those subsided and then I actually had a weird reaction to the injection site itself and had some bad sciatic pain that also went away within 12hrs, although incredible painful.
My betas unfortunately did not come down and I had the second injection this past thursday. That day I felt great and also into the majority of the next day. It wasnt until friday night that I had painful abdominal cramping and a "fullness" or pressure on my pelvis. The Dr. on call said this was normal and luckily this time I had some vicadin to help. I think its different for everyone so hopefully it wont be much more than some cramping for you. I am not 100% sure if I had an ectopic and sadly I may never know, but I do know how scary the whole ordeal is and my heart goes out to you.
