NBR: Xmas gift for recent widow

My girlfriends and I do a swap instead of buying for all. This year I got my friend who's husband died in September (cancer). They have 2 kids, ages 5 and 2. So her life totally sucks right now, even though she is upbeat and positive to the outside world. So I am looking for ideas as to a good gift. I'd like to avoid certificates, if only because she got a ton after her H died (including ones to nail salon). It is a $30 limit, but I'd break it for the right gift.

oh man when I read the top I was thinkin a gift card to like something her and kids would like to do (is there an incredible pizza around? or a place that does food and games and go-karts?) Something for her and the kids to do together that's nothing but fun.

If you want to avoid gc's that's harder maybe something that will make her feel great? Her fave perfume or lotions?

and just because she's a recent widow doesn't mean that she's not still the same chick she was before. So just think about what your friend would have liked before her husbands passing. this is just a part of her it doesn't define her though.IMO

Maybe something that she and the kids can do together.  Think of it as giving them something positive and creating new memories together.

Thanks for these ideas. This is someone I've known for years. While she is the same chick, I just want to be more sensitive to her current situation. I love the thought of getting something for her and the kids, I just hadn't been able to pick it.
