DH's funny comments about back carries

This was all done in light hearted fun, so I hope no one takes offense.  DH and I both are a tad on the sarcastic side....

So I have become completely obessessed with wanting my first woven so I can back carry my LO.  DH is a good ol' boy, who thankfully completely supports my AP/babywearing/hippy style parenting.  Neither one of us ever expected things to turn out this way, but we have a high needs lil guy so it just works for us.  ANYWAYS.

At dinner I was showing DH some of the wovens I had found and which ones I wanted, I then showed him NCBelle's becoming mamas website and the video of how to do a back carry.  I was told (jokingly again) that I was going to drop Cooper on his head and there was no way I was flexible enough to wrap him while he was on my back.  He agreed it looked like a great way to carry Cooper, but totally has no faith in my ability to learn to do this.  He was cracking me up with his comments about my inability.  Of course now he knows he's just challenged me and I WILL have a woven ASAP and will be back wrapping like a pro in no time.  Now I really really want to try a back carry with my gauze wrap, but I'm scared that it won't be comfortable for him...he's already 16lbs.

He has come a long way to not even balk about me wanting another carrier, he thinks 5 is enough...but what does he know, he's just a boy ; )

Again this was all in good fun...my DH is totally supportive of anything I want to try...and with Cooper's reflux and times of long crying, he totally understands why I want to learn this carry.

Re: DH's funny comments about back carries

  • It'd be safe for you to learn back carries like the back wrap cross carry, double hammock, and reinforced ruck with a gauze wrap :)  I wouldn't recommend it for a ruck though, just because it wouldn't be very comfy.

  • Awesome...by the time DH gets home tomorrow night I will be answering the door with LO in a double hammock carry.  Thanks!

    Time to practice!
