Babies: 9 - 12 Months

I have a pet peeve.......

I rarely post these, but this one really irks me.

Lily is walking now. When I tell people she just started walking they always say, "Uh oh! Look out! You're in for trouble now!"

1. This is baby number 2 for me. Don't you think I've experienced a walking baby before?

2. This is baby number 2 for me. Neither one of my kids has been any more trouble as walkers than as crawlers. They don't really get into that much mroe stuff as walkers. A mobile baby is a mobile baby, IMO.

3. I prefer a walking baby. I think it's more fun when they are walking. Not to mention they stay (slightly) cleaner.

I don't know why it irritates me so much, but I'm not sad or upset or worried at all to have a walking baby. I'm excited! Stop trying to make me feel like a bad mom for not worrying!!!

This is a test. This is only a test.

Re: I have a pet peeve.......

  • I hear you.  And I prefer a walking baby to an immobile baby. Sam never crawled (well, until after he started walking), and an immoble 10 month old is a FRUSTRATED 10 month old.  He's been walking for almost a month now and yes, it is slightly more work, but he's such a happy guy that I prefer it!

  • SA, I've been that person!!  I think it's just that I'm so excited to meet another mom and talk about babies that I forget that it's not the first time for everyone :)  Now, I always ask if it is their first before spouting off Embarrassed

  • While it's annoying, it's just a common response. Kind of like when someone asks how you're doing and you automatically respond with "Fine", even if you don't mean it.

  • I totally get what you're saying.  I also prefer Ophelia as a walker than I did as a crawler 1. she's heavy 2. she's happier since she can get to more things 3. it's more fun for me :-)

  • It's like when people say to me still, "Oh wait till the baby comes, you will get no sleep" HELLO....it's my third child, I already get no sleep! Duh
