I noticed that your son has a speech delay and is in EI. My husband and I suspect my son has a speech delay. He has his initial screening on Wednesday and then his developmental eval in Jan. What was your son's speech like at 18 months? I just wondered what your experience has been like. If it is too private I understand.
My daughter went through EI for a gross motor skill delay and I can't believe we are headed through the system again.
Re: **NCBelle**
I'm happy to share ;-)
He had no words at 18 months and only has one now ("up" - which is at least very handy!). He also doesn't really babble (only uses "da"), and doesn't imitate words or sounds. He has excellent receptive language though and uses lots of gestures. At 18 months when he was evaluated, his receptive was in the 22 month range but his expressive in the 6-9 month range. He had no delays in any other areas (he's always been a bit ahead on fine and gross motor) but still qualified for ST twice a week.
Hope the screening goes well! It's hard to know at that age if they need it or not but I'm glad we went ahead as clearly something is going on.
