Daycare moms come in...

What solids and snacks to do you send to daycare with LO?

Re: Daycare moms come in...

  • I don't have to send anything, daycare provides all food. But he get animal crackers, goldfish, fruit, graham crackers, cereal. Pretty much anything the older kids get. He eats just about anything now.

  • Puffs, Cheerios, goldfish crackers, cheese, and more recently I've started to send cut up fruits (fresh and frozen), avocados, cooked veggies and fun shape pasta. A lot of that is more for lunch but gets carried over to snacks too. My BIL's grandma watches DS and my sister's kids so he may get more of a variety at my sister's house.
  • For breakfast I always send a waffle or pancake. I'll be starting to send a solid fruit soon in addition to the waffle/pancake (banana, watermelon, melon, etc.). Right now I'm still sending a fruit puree because DS gobbles them up and i have a ton.

Lunch varies. Today was leftover spaghetti and steamed broccoli and cauliflower. Tomorrow will be a veggie burger patty, slice of cheese and steamed veggies. A lot of times I send leftovers from dinner the night before. I do try to keep some turkey meatballs and frozen veggies on hand at all times, so I know I'll always have something I can cook the night before and pack for his lunch.  There was one day I sent a slice of leftover pizza from the night before (cut into little pieces) and I felt like such a bad momma...but it was really all I had! Luckily I had a veggie puree that I sent along with the pizza, but still.

He gets two snacks a day, and I send two of the following: cheerios, those Gerber lil munchers (like Cheetos w/ out all the cheese), Goldfish, yogurt melts, graham crackers, etc.

  • I send breakfast and lunch and mum mums/puffs for snacks.

Breakfast is:  cereal (box stays at DCP) and a few cubes of fruit or veggie.  (Yes, I feed my child veggies for breakfast.)

Lunch is usually yogurt.  Sometimes a few cubes of a fruit or veggie if we are running low on yogurt.  :)

I'm hoping the pedi clears us for all table food at our next appt so that DCP can start providing the phone...she will provide table food for the kids, not baby food though.

  • Luckily we have all the food provided, which isn't always great when I don't love the all the food they have, but they do a pretty good job.

Some snacks they provide: goldfish crackers, graham crackers, carrots, muffins, waffles

Lunches: pretty much anything an older kid can eat, they just tailor some items for the toddlers. Turkey sandwiches, tacos, chicken nuggets, chicken breast.  With every entree they have a fruit, veggie & usually a bread item or noodles.

  • I sent her a whole container of yogurt and a box of baby cereal a while ago. He has one of those and a fruit puree for breakfast, along with cheerios and sometimes banana or something. She has a 7 month old of her own so she'll often supplement what I send.

For lunch I usually send leftovers. Lately he's been picky because he's teething but basically he gets the same thing he had for dinner the night before.

  • We send Annie's cheddar bunnies and bunny grahams. Cheerios are also a favorite. He only goes in the afternoon so we always pack a fruit and either annies mac n cheese or boca chicken nuggets. I like the boca 'chicken' nuggets because they are easy for him to handle and soft. He also loves them.
  • He eats breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snack provided by the daycare center.  We sent a box of Earth's Best cookies a while back, I guess he still has those.  But mostly he eats off the daycare menu now.  (We do BLW, so he does just fine with whatever they provide).
