Infantino Wrap & Tie Carrier

I'm not sure how much I will be using a baby carrier, but we don't really have $100+ to drop on one, and this one seemed like it was comfortable and safe for the price - at least it did from some of the reviews. If I end up loving carrying my LO, I'll be more willing to spend a lot on one, but for now I thought $30 was more in my price range.

Does anyone have this or has tried it? What do you think of it?

Re: Infantino Wrap & Tie Carrier

  • We have one and I really don't think you can tell much of a difference between the infantino and some of the pricier brands. It worked great for us before LO outgrew it!

  • I think it's pretty good for an "entry level" carrier.  I am still using mine, until I find something to upgrade to.  I'd say it's definitely superior to the other styles you can buy at big box stores.  Have you looked at a Moby?  Those are really nice for the newborn stage too, but I definitely quit using it long before the wrap & tie.

  • I wish I could recommend it :-(  I think you'd find it fine comfort wise for a younger baby or newborn.  But, there was a long thread about these on thebabywearer.com - several mamas took them apart and found the construction left much to be desired - specifically, the straps are not adequately attached to the carrier.

So while it likely wouldn't pose a problem with a small baby who doesn't weigh much, it's not something I'd feel comfortable recommending because it could potentially be an issue.  I'd not recommend it for a heavier infant or for back carries.  Infantino has a track record of unsafe baby carriers so I'm hesitant to trust any carrier they market.

I would suggest buying used if you don't want to pay a ton.  Babyhawks and Kozys (and some other brands as well) can be found cheaply on the FSOT forum of thebabywearer.com or maybe even on craigslist.  Kozys are sometimes on sale for $50ish.  These are both quality made carriers that you'd be able to resale should you find they don't work for you.
