Babies: 0 - 3 Months

2 questions. (2 months+)

1. Has your LO moved up to 5-6 oz yet? Izzy is starting to not be content with just 4 anymore...just wondering where your LOs are at.

2.Does your LO get scared of toys? Izzy's play mat has a sunflower that makes noises and when she bumped it went off and scared her to tears. I guess it surprised me because she has never shown fear before...

Re: 2 questions. (2 months+)

  • In just the past two days, Em has shown interest in eating more than 4 oz. (i.e. screaming her head off when she finishes her bottle).  She eats about 5 oz. for every-other feeding.  & she hasn't been scared of any of her toys... yet.  She does hate her daddy's Phantom of the Opera voice, though.  She cries terrible, afraid tears.

  • 1.  At 3 months DS was eating 5-6 ounces every 1.5-2 hours. At his 2 month appointment he was 12lbs 4oz.

    2. If I turn on a couple of his toys without his full attention first he'll some times startle. Real tears, and then he calms down as fast as he got upset.

  • 1. DD started taking 5-6oz bottles right around 2 months. Now she eats a 6oz bottle every 2.5 hours while she's at daycare.

    2. Just the bouncy seat that MIL has, it has a lot of lights and sound and it scared her the first couple times we put her in it.  Now she loves it though.

  • Abigail is just now taking 4oz per feeding amd still doesn't always take it.

She is easily startled by abrupt noises, but loves the toys on her playmat...they just hang.

  • 1. C takes 5oz bottles with one 6oz bottle at bedtime.

    2. Not fear, just more of being bored/not interested.

  • J is going on 12 wks and has been eating 6oz alot for the past few weeks. J hasn't been scared of toys, but DH accidentally scared him once when started cheering/clapping at a football game on tv. Lol. He felt bad.

  • Betsy didn't start 5oz until 4 months or so.  That's probably why she's so freaking small.  She still won't take more than 5oz now.

I've never seen her show fear to the point of crying.  She'll startle if the dogs bark loudly but it doesn't seem to bother her.

I think we have the same play mat.. Kaylee just stares at the flower like its an alien or something lol. Sometimes overstimulation can scare them, I think... her older siblings started laughing really loud at her (she had flipped a toy right out of my stepdaughters hand) and she was terrified!

  • Holdyn was 3 months yesterday and is only eating 4oz per feeding. He does not show an interest in wanting any more than that.

Nope, haven't had a "scare" yet.

  • 1. Yeah, this chunker eats between 5-6 oz each feeding. His feedings have spaced themselves out to 3-4 hrs though.

    2. No, just loud noises.

  • 1. Last few days, he has been getting hungry after just a couple of hours instead of over three. Yesterday, for the second half of the day, we tried giving him around 5.5 oz in his bottle, and for two of the feedings he finished the whole thing off. The others, he still ate/drank around 4.5, but he only woke up once in the middle of the night for a feeding, so ate at 10 pm, 330 am, 8 am. It was nice, and we are going to give him about 5 oz for all his feedings now. Wasnt expecting that growth spurt for another few weeks, but oh well, he was 13 lbs 6 oz at 2 month checkup.

    2. He ignores his toys, is only really interested in people still, although he doesnt want to be held all the time, is happy staring off into space or being talked to.

  • 1. Lizzie is moving back up to the larger bottles and finishing them. She eats 3-4oz @ night, and 5-6oz during the day. She's really sporadic so IDK.

    2. She's startling much easier now (it's a milestone for 2-3 mo.) When my cell rings or I call to my DH across the house she startles. She hasn't cried about it though. She still really doesn't care about toys, I try to give her rattles and those little keys she shows no interest so...

  • DS occasionally takes 5 ounces because sometimes he's just not content with 4.

He hasn't shown fear of a toy yet, although last night he was playing on his activity mat and he was pushing on the bar that holds the toys with his feet. He pushed it down almost to the floor, then his feet slipped and the bar and toys jumped back at him really fast. He jumped, and looked at me like he was going to cry - but luckily no tears!

Wesley does the same thing.  He hasn't shown fear yet to the point of crying, but if the dogs startle him.

As for feeding, he is just now getting to the point where he  will 4 1/2 oz consistently.

  • 1. DD is consistently drinking 4 ounces every 3.5-4 hours.

    2. I haven't noticed her show a fear of her playmat, but she does startle if the dog barks abruptly, DH cheers too loud during a football game, etc.

  • 1.  DD has been taking 5 oz for awhile now.  We are going to increase to 6 as she isn't going 3 hours between feedings anymore.  Pedi says when she doesn't make it to 3 hours without eating, we can up her feedings.

    2.  I haven't noticed her toys scare her, but loud noises will sometimes.
