I'm trying to cut out a bottle or two from DD's day. Please give me ideas to fill in where the bottles are now or ideas to make DD's meals larger so they can be spaced out more. Just any ideas would help at this point. TIA! ![]()
DD currently has:
5:30a morning bottle (7.5 oz)
7a cereal
10a bottle (7.5 oz)
Noon 6 oz stage 3 baby food
2p bottle (7.5 oz)
5p dinner (whatever we're having)
7:30p bedtime bottle (7.5 oz)
Re: Help give me ideas... (eating)
That sounds like alot in the bottles-- at least for us.
When I wanted our LO to start eating larger meals, the pediatrician recommended I drop down her bottles from 7 oz to 6 oz (when she was 9 months old.) Now that she is 10 months, I have dropped them to 5 oz each and this seems to have done the trick. She eats all of her meals well, unless she isn't feeling well or doesn't like what I made.
If you are looking for less bottles and for your LO to eat more, then I don't have any suggestions. The schedule you put up is very similar to what we do now! GL!
Two thoughts -
First, we always give my son his bottles (or nursing sessions when I'm home) with meals instead of between meals. He gets his bottle first and then eats until he's done. It makes it feel like we're not just feeding him all day long. So he eats at 5:00, 8:00, 12:00, 4:30 and 7:30.
Second, some ideas to beef up meals: Yogurt and fruit puree for breakfast, and you can even dip waffles or pancakes in it if you feel ambitious. We also almost always give cheerios/yogurt melts at breakfast as an appetizer while we get other stuff ready.
I'm not sure what stage 2 foods are exactly because I've never bought baby food but what about adding a little texture, like some well cooked pasta or toast bits?
Does that help?
