Hello all-I'm thrilled (and surprised!) to be able to join you!
A little about us-my husband is a Marine and we are a happy family of three right now, our daughter just turned two this past October. It was not easy getting pregnant with her, but when we did, we figured the next time around it would be easy (since we figured out to temp, etc.) Boy were we wrong-after my husband came home from deployment last year we started trying again, and after 13 months, two surgeries, and a number of tests, we surprisingly got pregnant on our own (interesting, since we were supposed to start clomid in the spring, and try IUI if dh's counts didn't improve by next summer!) ...these are miracle babies for sure-we conceived them only 77 days after dh's vericocele embolization, and me only having one functional tube!
We found out we were having twins a couple of nights ago when we went into the ER because I thought I was miscarrying. I was bleeding, and ended up doing a urine test, blood test, and exam before they decided to send us over to the neighbor hospital for an emergency ultrasound. It was VERY much to our surprise when the ultrasound tech called my husband in the room, re-inserted the probe, and turned the screen toward us-I knew when she did that exactly what was going on! Sure enough, there were two babies-and at 7w, they basically looked like little heads with heartbeats. No wonder I was bleeding-I am stretching a little quicker than normal!
Our families don't even know I am pregnant yet-since it's been so hard to conceive in the first place we wanted to wait a bit to tell them until the most risky time passes, so we thought Christmas Day would be perfect, since I turn 9w that day. They are NOT going to know what to do when we tell them it's twins (we only have one other set of twins in the family... my husband's second cousins).
They scheduled a doc appointment for me tomorrow afternoon to see the OB-I'm sure to re-check everything, right? I have a million questions already but know I will find out a lot over time, and just by reading other threads-but what should I expect with tomorrow's appointment? Are their particular questions I should ask? I'm hoping for another ultrasound of course, I had my first one initially scheduled for about two and a half weeks from now (at what I thought was going to be my first visit) but will they scan now to check things, and scan often? Am I automatically high-risk? Any advice you ladies have will be well appreciated
