jordan--do you think boy or girl when you hear that name?

Re: jordan--do you think boy or girl when you hear that name?

  • My first instinct is boy, but I have known both boys and girls with this name. I also prefer it for a boy, I don't think it's very feminine.

  • I think girl, but I don't like it as a girl's name. I don't think it sounds very pretty. I agree that it is one of the few "truly unisex" names. I also think of it as a strong 90's name, because of all the parents who named their kids after Michael Jordan (of which I have know like, five)
  • A girl trapped in the 80s.

  • It's my nephew's name, but I still think girl because I grew up with a girl named Jordan.  It's too unisex for me.

  • I initially think of boy, but it could go either way.  I know both a male and a female Jordan.

  • Boy because i know boys IRL with this name. Can't quite shake the connection to trashy ex wife of Peter Andre Jordan though...
  • I think '90's.

  • I think of boy. Its pretty unisex now. I don't like names liek this on girls- just NMS.

I think of Jordan Knight (NKOTB)

If you (or anyone) uses this on a girl please spell it Jordan, just the normal way. Don't try to girly it up with a 'y' anywhere in it.

  • Boy, but it is a unisex name

  • I heard this discussion yesterday in a children's clothing store. :P The woman at the cash said it was a boys name and she hated it on girls. I'm still torn on it.
  • Boy. I think of Jordana for a girl -- there's an actress with that name.

  • I think girl but that's because it is my sister's name.  Jordan Christine.

  • Boy, but it's not odd on a girl.
  • Apparently I'm one of the few who thinks girl.  Possibly because it used to be my favorite girls name and I was going to name my daughter that, but then my sister used it first (I wasn't even married when she had her daughter, so while I was a bit upset, it's not like there was any sort of hope at that point that I would have a daughter....).  I still love the name for a girl, and I know a couple of boy Jordan's who are 18+.  So for me, it's all girl even though I know it's unisex and used to be all boy.
