DS still gets really cranky after only an hour or so of awake time, by an hour and a half I give up and put him to sleep. He sleeps 20-30 minutes, then an hour later it's crankypants again. Repeat ALL DAMN DAY. I want 2 or 3 hour+ naps at this point. What do I dooooooo?????
Oh and he sleeps well at night so I don't think he's overtired.
Re: So when do I get normal naps?
sounds like he's overtired. i know you didn't want to hear that.
at that hour mark he has been up put him back down. try not to pick him up just patting or replacing passy. you may even try the swing during the day.
healthy sleep habits, happy child is a awesome reference if you're willing to read it.
all three of mine have fallen into a predictable schedule by four months using the book.

Yes to this. Also, see if you can try to keep him awake and occupied for a bit longer each day before putting him down. My son (5.5 months old) does best when he's awake for at least 2.5 hours before napping, even though he gets cranky off and on after about an hour. I can usually get a couple of good 2-hr. naps out of him by doing this.
