poop!

my newborn (3 weeks old) was constipated for  5 days called my dr and she said to give her some dark karo syrup in her breast milk bottle until poop

WELL.

she pooped.

a lot. up her back and in her hair and she spit up a ton. 

and my emotional self cried because i know she is fussy because her tummy hurts

when will the massive poops stop? how long is the karo in her system for?

and tips on soothing her stomach with out giving her anything to eat or drink?

Massive poops are pretty much par for course with a BF baby, with or without karo syrup!

You can try giving her gripe water, it seems to be a sort of cure-all for tummy issues.  We always used Little Tummies brand.

Word... I always hold off bath time until E poops, saves me from using the whole tub of wipes to clean her up every night.

Next time, try eating something high in fiber before nursing.  It might make her gassy, but it will help you both move better.
