Hi Ladies ![]()
Today marks CD 1 of what is now cycle 14/month 13. I started seeing an RE and have had some basic testing and cycle monitoring done (CD 3 blood work and u/s, 7 DPO bloodwork, u/s and bloodwork for follie check and O, SHG, and an SA for DH), but so far, nothing has come back abnormal (normal thyroid check too). In the RE's opinion, she said we should wait 5 more months and then come back in April to start treatment if we're not pg (that would be 18 months TTC). At first I was OK with that option, but now I'm not so sure. Maybe it's CD 1 emotions....I don't know.
A little about me: I'm 27, DH is 30 and we have a 4y/o DD and a 1 1/2 y/o furbaby (a Russian Blue named Molson). I am an ecologist and DH is an electrical engineer. I love to cook, and if I ever won the lottery, I would build myself a magnificent chef's kitchen and cook all day long! I can't wait for my squishy, roly-poly baby and I look forward to the day that he/she is actually in my arms! I will be one happy lady ![]()
I have been lurking here and there for a while and just want to say that I think this is a wonderful board and I'm looking forward to getting to know you ladies. May we all be on our way very soon ![]()
Re: I think it's time for my intro....
I agree, I would be too anxious to wait. Do you like your RE? I may have a chat with him/her and if this one does not want to get the ball rolling I would find someone else...again just my opinion i'm very impatient
Welcome!
This exactly. Good luck and welcome!

Welcome and best of luck to you. I'm sorry you don't have an answer to your "why am I not pg" question... not having a known problem can be pretty frustrating since you don't know what's going on.
I hope your RE will get on the same page with you soon.TroubleTTC

Welcome! Is it ok if I call you Tosh 2.4?
I'm really not sure why your RE would have you wait 5 more months. You have been trying for 13 months without success, so the chances of you getting pregnant on your own in the next 5 months is not so great (possible of course). What was his reasoning behind waiting 5 months? You need to do what you feel comfortable with, but I would personally seek out a consult with another RE.
Have you seen this blog? It's by an RE at NYU (which is a very well respected clinic here). You might find this entry interesting: https://infertilityblog.blogspot.com/2010/06/how-to-find-good-fertility-doctor.html
Good luck and I hope you don't have to hang out here too long
Thanks for the welcome!. Sorry I had a bit of a post and run there. I got slammed at work and had to log off and DH didn't bring his laptop home from work until today.
To answer the questions, I've had an SHG (like an HSG but performed with salt water and ultrasound rather than dye and x-ray). Everything was clear.
My RE suggested waiting before beginning treatment because she said that 50 % of couples with unexplained secondary infertility will conceive on their own within their second year TTC. I guess she could sense my hesitation with the time commitment involved in starting treatment since I had just taken so much time off of work for a cycle of monitoring. She said in her opinion she wouldn't start treatment until 18 months TTC, but that of course I was welcome to start whenever I wanted and I just had to let her know and she would support that decision. I really do like her - she is very knowledgeable, kind, and warm and I don't want to change. She is regarded as one of the best RE's in the country and I waited a long time to get in and see her for this reason.
I talked it over with DH and we decided that we will call and change our appointment to February instead of waiting until April. I think I'm happier with that!
Thanks ladies!
