June 2011 Moms

Sick of baby stuff already?!

Maybe this should be a FFC.  At any rate, right now I'm kind of "over" the novelty of being pregnant.  Some days I kind of forget I'm pregnant at all, aside from the small bump. This isn't too say I'm not still excited, but the obsessiveness of it all has vanished.

I've been reluctant to really look at anything for the baby yet and when I do, I'm 100% overwhelmed with all the options (even with the help of Baby Bargains and all your great recommendations here.) Maybe I'm in denial that my life is going to change, despite the fact that this baby was planned.  Right now I'm far more concerned with getting my house in order and decorated than I am with buying anything for the baby yet.  (Although you could just call that nesting, I suppose.)

I've been on my anniversary board more than The Bump lately because I'm slowly falling back into wanting to talk about NBR stuff than BR stuff. Maybe it's because I'm only 15 weeks and it seems like June is so far away.  Does anyone else feel this way?  I'm sure things will change as the months go on, but I feel really guilty about this right now.

  • Please don't feel guilty.  This is my third child, and I am so excited to see him/her.  With that being said, I am a newlywed (married in June), have two beautiful daughters (one is 4, and quite precocious....theother is 9, and apparently hitting puberty because she is being hormonal..lol), and 80 fifth graders each day.  I haven't the time, or energy, to put 100% of my attention on being pregnant.  A lot of it, as you mentioned, may just be that June is forever away!

He/she will be here before you know it, and ALL your attention will be on him/her.  It is ok to have a while to yourself now.  Good luck to you.

  • I'm all for anything baby right now but there are some things I avoid. I agree it gets overwhelming. For example...we know the sex but I'm intimidated to venture into crib bedding for some reason. I think you just realize that we have a long while to go and are being realistic knowing that you have plenty of time for baby talk and shopping. It is still early.
  • I feel like I could have written your post. I'm really excited and baby was planned but I'm just not into it yet. I feel so weird when others are getting so excited because it doesn't feel real to me.
