I'm sure a lot of people will tell me to ask my doctor, but I want to know what your doctor said about using Vicks Nasal spray? I've seen opposing opinions online and am just wondering.
I used a nose spray when I had a cold in first tri.
As long as you use it as directed (only as needed, don't exceed max dose, and don't use for longer than 3 or 4 days), it's unlikely to do any harm. The adverse effects are from using it frequently, as it does constrict blood vessels.
Frankly, it was the only way I could sleep. I used it only before bed, and it made life bearable.
No adequate human data, no teratogenic effect has been reported in first trimester exposure, but frequent, chronic doses late in pregnancy causes uterine vessels' constriction with subsequent fetal hypoxia, bradycardia and non reactive NST.
Recommended therapeutic doses has no risk to the fetus.

I have been using a vaporizer with the Vicks steam stuff at night, b/c I have had a really bad cough...
I do have a prescription nose spray, but the dr. also said saline nose spray when I was congested in my 1st trimester.
