How do you include DHA in LO's Diet? Also, low-sugar Yogurt options?

Hello Ladies

Happy Friday!

Just wondering ... what are you guys using to incorporate DHA into LO's diet ... what kinds of whole foods or packaged products or even supplements?

Also, anyone have a recommendation for a low-sugar yogurt. I hate feeding him yogurt where the second ingredient is sugar (like yo baby).

TIA for your tips!

  • Greek yogurt! You can get plain whole milk greek yogurt. High in fat and protein - perfect for babies. There are different brands. I usually get Fage. You can find a cup that comes with a little side container of a fruit flavored jelly like strawberry or blueberry. The yogurt is a little tart. Or you can buy it plain and sweeten it a bit yourself with jelly/honey/etc.

That's a good reminder. I've looked at greek yogurt before but i haven't been able to find one that's both whole milk and organic. i guess in need to try whole foods perhaps.

  • I love Brown Cow yogurt for DD. It's sweetened with cane juice, so there's no refined sugar in it. And it's whole milk. They no longer make organic, but if I remember correctly, their dairy is hormone-free.

  • It can be hard to find the whole milk organic ones...def check WF. I forgot to address DHA! Sorry! The organic milk we buy DS is DHA fortified. I try to serve salmon once a week (not always great about this but I try, and he likes it a lot). Broccoli, cauliflower, and soy also has omega 3 fatty acids in them - he eats all of that regularly (veggie burgers etc).

  • We use Horizon Organic Milk with DHA or Target's organic with DHA.  I also still stir in a teaspoon of Happy Baby Organic Oatmeal w/ DHA into applesauce and yogurt.
