post cerclage symptoms

hi ladies

just got my cerclage in yesterday.  i'm 13w5d.  i'm going to give a call to the doc's office this morning, but i wanted to see what others have to say about their post-cerclage op symptoms.  

well, not only did i get a cerclage yesterday, but i also woke up with a head cold.    stuffy nose, scratchy throat, & coughing.  just another thing i have to deal with.

anyway, i'm experiencing some cramping.  it was actually worse last night, but is that normal?  it comes & goes.  are those contractions?  i really hope not.  also, i'm spotting which i know is normal, but last night there as this long mucousy discharge with some blood.  that's not the mucous plug is it?  

i know i maybe be totally overreacting, but if you ladies that have gotten the cerclage let me know what you experience after you got yours, that would be awesome.  also, could you guys "feel" the stitches or is that in my head?

I had mine done a week ago, Wednesday. I have been to the OB triage twice since. The first day I had some spotting, then the next day nothing. The third day I had alot of bleeding and was worried so we went after calling the doctor. I was feeling sick after taking Vicodin and from the pain and I threw up and the pressure from that is what they think caused the bleeding. It lasted less than a day. Then, two days ago I had increased pressure and the long mucousy discharge like you had so again went to OB triage. Everything looked fine. I saw the Dr. yesterday and everything is perfect. I was able to come off bedrest. I asked the Dr. about the pain/pressure I am having and he said that it is because the cerclage is very high, a good thing, and I will probably feel it until delivery. So far I can not stand very long because it hurts, I don't work so it isn't a big deal.

 I think your symptoms are normal but like my doctor says, call if there are any concerns. I have his number on speed dial. Good luck!

thanks for responding.  sorry you had so many scares, but i'm glad to hear that everything is looking good.  the doctor did not give me any pain meds, just antibiotics and something to prevent me from going into labor.  but i have this annoying head cold.

anyway, i did talk to my ob and all of my concerns were normal.  i'm a bit scared that the weekend is approaching and i don't have access to them as easily, but positive thoughts right?

sounds like your doc had you on bedrest until your followup appointment?  mine said to just stay off my feet for 2 days.  i'm not even completely laying down the whole time either.  i hope that's ok.

totally normal. my ob gave me percoset (oxy) and I only took one the day after.

I also had some blood clots come out a few days later which is completely normal. it is just from the surgery...

also just a heads up... do not try to feel up there. you will feel the stitch. I did this last night and spent 4 plus hours in ER for nothing. do not play dr.. as hard as it is... I miscarried and honestly I need to stop assuming things are wrong when I am fine...

around 16-18 weeks the ob will do a stress test on your stitch.

i didnt have any of the problems u guys are haveing and i had my cerclage put in july 9th and i'm getting it taken out soon the only thing is that the first day i spotted a little and i didn't have any cramps or anything like that i didn't even take any pain medication afterwards and i'm a wuss when it comes to pain
