Bring on the waterworks...

A local radio station is doing a radio-thon all day today and tomorrow for the Make a Wish Foundation.  All these stories about sick kids is so heart wrenching.  I can not even imagine going through something like that, and I am amazed at the strength that some of these parents have.  I honestly don't know what I'd do if I lost Emma.

  • Make a Wish is my "always donate" charity. My niece was able to go to Disneyworld courtesy of Make a Wish and I know her Mom and Dad are forever grateful for it. It is such a great charity.

I couldn't agree more!!!  It's just that.... I can't even imagine going through that.  The stories are truly inspiring.

  • My neighbor's grandson was the honorary stick boy at the ducks hockey game a few weeks ago and go to do a pre game skate with the players as part of the make a wish foundation. He's in first grade and has leukemia. Cutest little boy ever.
  • They do something like that here where the local radio personality goes up in  a crane and lives there till they reach their goal and the whole time he is up there they play stories of how the toys helped so much, etc etc... I cry every time! I can't imagine **Knock on wood**

I couldn't imagine what her parents were going through when she was ill. Now, that I have my own LO, I really can't imagine. It breaks my heart.

  • I always end up listening to the St. Jude's radiothon. I am glad I haven't heard one since my Emma was born. I am sure I would bawl my eyes out and show up to work all splotchy.
  • My niece Taleah was born with a genetic disorder. I was her nurse from the time she was 6 months on. She was granted a make a wish trip 2 weeks before she passed away. Make a wish still took my sister's family and me to Disneyworld. They said that it would be unfair to the 3 other kids if they didn't get to go.

There was an amazing amount of healing that happened on that trip. I will never forget going in to the princess room with my sister and 6 year old niece. They closed off the room and let us just cry for about 30 minutes while my niece talked to each and every princess.

I always donate and I appreciate all of you that do as well.
