ideas for "fake drinking" this sunday

Ok I have my annual girls grab bad this year. . . we all make lots of food and drink lots of wine/champagne...and its my very good friends. I am known to enjoy my cocktails in my pre pregnancy days...never turning down a glass of wine or a cocktail. PLUS everyone is on like pregnancy watch 2010 with me so if I "pass" on a drink they will all take notice.

My ideas for faking out are

 1. make a mocktail with seltzer and cranberry to look like a " pointsetta" which is usually champagne & cran

2. get non alc wine and put it in a regular wine bottle.

I know this all sounds rediculous....

any ideas?

I think those are great ideas! I will be pulling the waiter aside at DH's company party and telling him that a "Gin and Tonic" means tonic and lime.

The weekend I got my BFP I was the MOH in a wedding.... a BIG group of drinkers..... I was drinking my stoli O and club all night which was really just club soda with an orange in it tee hee heee

You have good ideas, sounds like you are hosting.  If that's the case, how about replacing some sparkling white grape juice in a champagne bottle and having the same drinks as everyone else.  I think I am pretty close to having to be this elaborate, and though it may be sad to drain a bottle, you can stick with a cheapie and you will what, spent 15 tops on the champagne and the juice?  Wouldn't you happily pay someon 15 bucks to keep quiet?  It's a small loss.

Fyi, if you have a wine pump and those rubber stoppers, pumping the champagne or anything else sparkling actually helps keep it bubbly for days, I've done it.

If you have other ideas, please let me know.  I still can't figure out how to hide this at a restauraunt with my in laws when they come in town.  Not only do we usually get a bottle of wine with them, but I'm very well known for getting cocktails.  This is going to be tough tough tough.

I have my staff Christmas party Saturday and have been thinking of "fake-outs".  Luckily I'm driving so I only have to fake a couple, but I'm thinking 7up, cran and OJ or virgin martini's (the place we're going makes a "flirtini" that is soooo good).  

I don't think people will necessarily figure out what I'm doing, because I haven't been drinking much socially this fall, however it's still good to strategize!  Good luck Kell!

I plan on drinking "beer" by dumping out a bottle and putting water in; so i will drink that and look like i'm drinking out of a beer bottle.

 That would be a dead give away for my family/friends.  I wish I could use that one, but they would see completely through it.

I think #1 is probably your best bet.

I personally don't drink at all...so this wont be a problem for me! Back when I used to drink a lot, it would definitely have given it away...so I can understand where you're coming from in wanting to "fake" it.

I went through the same think last Saturday (the day I got my BFP).. I was throwing a Bachelorette party for my SIL. I just drank sparking juice out of a wine botte and nobody had ANY idea!

I did this over the weekend. I also made my own vodka and sprite and just pretended to put the vodka in.  This weekend we are going to a 40th and I DH is going to ask the bartender to make my vodka and sprite with out the vodka.

I'd just say you're trying to conceive, and for that reason you can't have any. Or, if you don't want to lie at all, say "We are trying to have a baby, so I'm sorry but I won't be drinking."

my husband did this for me at my SIL on monday.  He poured the beer into a cup for him and then rinsed the can out for me and filled with a little water.

Some of my good friends are going and they all know we've been TTC for over a year.....and I've been drinking that whole time so nobody would ever buy that. As well as the antibiotic excuse either. sadly I would always enjoy a glass or 2 of wine no matter what ... well obviously except for the millisecond I got my BFP
