Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

We had our first ER visit last night.

DS ran into the corner of a drawer on our TV console, and gashed his forehead.  So 2 1/2 hours later, he officially survived his first stitches.  It was exhausting because I had to hold his arms down for a solid hour so he wouldn't pull the numbing ointment off his forehead, but he's perfectly fine today.

I'm guessing that won't be our last trip for stitches, seeing as how he's already climbing and running like nothing happened?

  • omg...you poor thing. that must have been terrifying.  i'm so glad he is ok now.

we have these things on the corners of all of our furniture that we got at lowes.  they aren't the prettiest things in the world, but they have  saved us from quite a few accidents.

It wasn't as bad as I always thought it would be (you know how you picture that moment in your head)  The hospital staff was good, though my pedi's office gave me the choice of two hosiptals, and I went with the closer, and wish I would have driven a few extra minutes to go to Levine, just because I think they may have had a few more ideas/tricks up their sleeves to help me keep him calm, since my nurse  just watched me restrain him for an hour while he wailed.

The funny thing is, we have the corner protectors, but he opened a drawer, and then tripped into it before we could get to him to close it.  ::sigh::  I knew the minute they saw boy parts on the ultrasound this day would come, I'm just glad it was as minor as it was, and it hit above his eye, and was only cosmetic!

oh man...i didn't even notice that it was the drawer.  ugh..that could totally happen to my ds.  i know we are in for something similar...ryan is 100% boy.

    Yep!    You?

  • Oh no! Poor little guy! Hope both he and YOU are recovering mama. :)
  • Glad that you seem worse off than him (I mean that as glad he's ok). I'm waiting for this day to come! DH brought home an "emergency kit" to give stitches if need be (he is a doctor) but I don't know if I can be his nurse....I'm not that brave! I think I'd rather take DS to the hospital...
