Babies: 9 - 12 Months

S/O - If you bed share

How long do you think you will do it for?  Are we taking a year to 1 1/2 or until like he is 5 or 6 years old?  just curious.  For the record - I do not bed share.

Re: S/O - If you bed share

  • We have been bedsharing and on and off "trying" (not very hard) to crib-train. he hates it, sries so hard, tortures us... so the plan is this weekend to move his crib to our room so at least he has the familliar smell. I hope it works! We go on vacation in a couple weeks so he will be sleeping with us again anyway so we dont expect it to happen till we get back and he will be almost 11 months.

  • We don't bed share either, but I have a friend due in Feb. and she is planning to bed share. She said the baby will have her own room when she is 2 or 3. I can't even imagine!

  • We bedshared on and off for the first year. Right now, we're not, but I'm not opposed to doing it again. We did for the first 6 weeks, then DS preferred his bassinet. We started again at 6 months when he was cutting his first teeth, but we recently stopped about 3 weeks ago when we found he was starting to sleep poorly in our bed again. When we moved him to his own room, he started STTN again so it worked.

Honestly, we don't have a plan. If we find that he starts sleeping lousy in his crib again but sleeps great in bed with us, we'll bedshare again. Whatever gets the whole family the best night's sleep is good by me.

I probably wouldn't let my DS bedshare at 5 or 6 (besides nights when he was sick-I always slept in my parents bed when I was sick). But bedsharing with a toddler is fine by me.

  • We only bed share when DD refuses to go to sleep, if she starts mumbling (she actually sounds like she is complaining) around 8pm we know that we can put her down in her crib and she'll sleep through the night, but if she is still up and playing at 9pm then we know she'll be in our bed that night.

Although we love having DD snuggled in bed with us we are trying to get her into her own bed and def do not want her to be sleeping with us when she is 3!!!

We really need to get her into a proper bed routine, but she just never seems into it, we've tried the lavender baths, reading books, late night feeds, but now we just don't know what to do so co-sleeping seems to work!

  • We bed-shared for 8 months and it was wonderful to finally get her in her own crib.  She was waking several times a night and I wasn't sleeping well because she was taking up the spot I would normally sleep in...I nearly fell out of bed once.  I loved snuggling with her, don't get me wrong but it was nice to finally cut the ties and get her out of our bed.
  • Tagan was just moved to her crib last week.

I bed shared with Brittyn until she was 3yr. - That was only because I met my current husband. ALthough, she still sleeps with me when he is working nights.

  • Until high school. I kid! We were discussing this the other night and probably will try to break the habit the week of Christmas since we are both off work.
