Hi! I have been thinking about you all morning and I'm so excited for you all!! DH stayed with me the 1st night in the hospital, but not the other 2 nights. If I had to do it all over again, I would have him go home for all nights. IMO, it's important to have a parent with the older child every night and for him to wake up with a parent home each morning.
Carter stayed with my MIL during the c-section, but they came to visit and meet brother shortly afterwards - within the first hour or so once I was moved to my actual room (out of recovery).
Good luck sweet friend! We are praying for you all!
My dh didn't stay either of the nights. My mom got the stomach flu and couldn't come. It was fine, one night i was just being monitored and the night with Dylan was fine. It made me very very motivated to go home. We brought Logan to the hospital the day I had Dylan. It was a mellow meet and greet. He didn't hold the baby for a few days after we got home. He's so young though, he has no clue!
i had DH stay at home because i wanted to try and keep tyler's schedule as normal as possible. i had my mom stay with me one night and my sister another night. i had c-sections also so i def needed help.
once i was in my room we had tyler come and visit - so probably a few hours after paige was born.
one thing that he loved was that we had a special gift for him from the baby.
No one stayed with me the first night and I was okay with that. I had a very easy recovery from Natalie and looked forward to our first night together. Then again she was born in the early morning and I was with people literally all day. Ryan came to meet her around 10:30 (she was born at 6:44). He was excited to wake up and know that his baby sister was finally here.
Nobody said life would be easy, they just promised it would be worth it.
My mom drove up and stayed w/ G the week we were in the hospital. So DH stayed. He was helpful.
We brought G over to meet his brother the day after he was born. That first evening was a little crazy. It took my mom awhile to drive up from LA, so we had someone else bridging the gap between daycare pickup and my mom arriving. By then it was dinnertime/bedtime and too late to bring G over. Also I was still more or less confined to my hospital bed (since I was still catheterized and hooked up to an IV) and I didn't want G to see me like that.
My DH was only with for the delivery. He was actually sick with a cold and he didn't come back to the hospital until we had to come home. I was pretty much alone...for 2 days (it totally sucked). I had to share a room and i didn't want the other person to mad that my DH was sick around their baby too.
MY DD met her brother the day he was born. She was picked up at daycare, and brought right over the hospital.
DH stayed at the hospital both nights while my Dad was at our house with A. DH went home in the mornings and evenings to spend some time with A. We live pretty close to the hospital, so going back and forth wasn't a big issue.
A came to meet her baby brother the day he was born. She was pretty young, though and wasn't too interested in him.
I only stayed one night at the hospital after E was born and because it was a busy night, I had to share a room so no he was not allowed to stay. I REALLY wanted him there though. He left late and came back as early as he could.
M met E as soon as she got up, ate breakfast and was ready for the day. So came in around 9:30am. Ethan was born at 6:30am so she saw him pretty soon.
Our situation with T ended up being unexpected, but DH was never going to stay the night. We'd rather he was home with S. I ended up with a c-section but wasn't able to move at all for the first 24 hours or so (because of the blood loss and transfusion they wouldn't let me) so there wasn't much DH could do anyway. He went home that afternoon and took care of DD. I stayed one additional night after that.
We originally planned on DD meeting DS when DH came to pick us up to go home, but because DS was in the NICU that wasn't for 10 days. She did come with us at that time. Bringing her to see him before really wasn't an option.
Yes, my DH was with me the entire time in the hospital. My in-laws and mother came into town as soon as they could, but we ended up having friends come and pick up Eleanor and watch her at their house the first night since they weren't able to make it while I was still in labor. My in-laws went and picked her up at our friend's house the next morning (they got into town super late), and then brought her to visit us in the hospital to meet her new sister. We all left together later that afternoon. Yes, I wasn't even in the hospital 24 hours. I wanted to get OUT of there!
SO excited for you. Lots of good thoughts and prayers everything goes well!
DH did stay at the hospital both nights. But I think he went home for a little bit. Ty was with my parents, and they stayed at our house (which is about a mile away from the hospital).
Ty met his sister a couple hours after she was born. My parents & sister went to dinner with Ty and brought back take out for DH & I. Ty wasn't that interested and they after a 1/2 hr or so. He visited the second day for a short time, too. He greeted us at home, when we left the hospital. I had too much stuff to take back & forth to the car.
I can't believe it's nearly your time!! Good wishes to you.
Jake was born late and DH stayed until early morning and was home before Ty woke up. We didn't want the new baby to interrupt Ty's schedule so DH took him to school and stayed with him most of the day.
We brought Ty to the hospital and it was a nightmare. The sibling meeting at home was much more mellow and meaningful.
Akkk I can't believe it's already here. I haven't been around much, two breaks in my foot, recurrent strep, two toddlers, it's been fun BUT I've been thinking about you tons! I even have some stuff I wanted to send you if you still need/want boy cloths. If you do, let me know what sizes (preemie on up) that you need to fill out your stash and I'll put something together for you. Nest name @ yahoo.com
Ok off to answer the actual ?
DH stayed with me the first night since he had the next day off but he did go home to do bedtime and then came back. We did an odd thing where DH only took 2 days off at the birth, my parents were here and when they left DH started his 6 weeks of PFL (employer required him to take at once).
Andrew came to the hospital the 2nd day. With the C Section I was worried that if he freaked the F out seeing me in the hospital/meeting the new one that it would depress the hell out of me. I wanted 2 things, # 1 to ensure the DS#2 got the quiet all about him first night he deserved (only time he was going to) and #2 that if I couldn't deal with Andrew's reaction that it would be more reasonable for me to beat it out of the hospital and head home.

Yes - DH was able to stay with me because my mom stayed at our house with the girls.
We brought our 11 yr old over right after he was born and the 2 year old came the next day.

DH did not stay in the hospital with me.
Lexi met Orion about 5 hours after he was born. She was the 1st to meet him.
