Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Anyone have to re-Ferber around 16 months?

We first did Ferber at 9 months and it literally worked perfect. In just a few days Ava went from waking up 5 times a night to sleeping all night and going to bed so good.  She is now 16 months and getting her molars and we are having a HARD time getting her to sleep.  Also, in the mornings she wakes up at crazy times like 4:00 or 5:00 and won't go back to sleep.  She just cries until we come and get her.  I know her teeth are hurting and I have tried giving her tylenol or motrin a little while before bed.  Nothing seems to be working.  I was thinking we might need to re-ferber.  I just feel bad because I know her teeth are hurting her.  Any thoughts? TIA

  • I'm pretty sure that following the true advice of Ferber is that you are not technically allowed to Ferber when they are teething or sick.  I would wait it out and just try to comfort her, do whatever you have to, for a little bit until you know she's not teething and then re-ferber as necessary.

  • I know it can take forever but I'd wait to re Ferber until the teeth are in.
