Bad Dogs!

For the past 2 weeks I come home to find that  my dogs have been going #1 and #2 in the basement and chewing stuff up. They are in the unfinished part, so no big deal to clean up, but it is driving me crazy! When I was pregnant with my DS this also happened for about 6 months straight, it may have been longer. I am pretty sure I know which dog is doing the bad deed, but not 100%. Does anyone else have problems with your pets while you are pregnant?

Re: Bad Dogs!

  • Actually now that you mention it my one dog has been going #2 in the house when she never did before. The other is incontinent so he is always peeing but it's not because I am pregnant.

  • Our dogs have been going #2 in the house lately, too! I wonder if that is just a coincidence? So weird!!

  • Huh....our 2 year old English Bulldog has been doing #1 in the house lately and he never has accidents. He doesn't do it every day, maybe once every 10 days but it's really annoying. Never thought there was connection but now you got me thinking!

  • Today was the worst yet! Poop, about 4 or 5 areas of pee and 4 huge areas of puke! I think the puke happened from the dog eating stuff she should not be eating! Honestly would you all be able to handle this if it were a daily occurance?
  • My sister had issues with her 2 dogs when she was early in her pregnancy (she's due in 3 weeks but I don't know if the problem is still going on)- they started chewing everything.  She used to let them roam the house when she went to work but had to start crating them again.  Not sure if they were peeing or pooping in the house.

My DH and I actually got a puppy before we found out I was pregnant (we got the puppy the same day I bought the test- in retrospect I should have waited just in case but I really didn't think I was pregnant).  He's a puppy so we've had quite a lot of accidents in the house.  Things are slowly getting better.  My 5 yr old dog has not done anything out of the ordinary- I think the puppy is keeping us both busy.

  • So funny you wrote this......my Boxer (5 years old) has been tearing up magazines. Not magazines that are laying around but she is pulling from different places. She has also gotten a hold of a few other things. For the past 3-4 weeks she has been confined to one room where she can't tear up anything, so she is a good girl everyday now:) Don't want to try and leave her out because not sure what else she will tear up!
  • My dog has been going crazy! It's so funny you said the unfinished side of the basement because that is where my dog went too! I've since locked him out of the basement and blocked him in the kitchen with baby gates while we're at work.

What i've noticed has helped him is exercise. As long as he gets a daily walk and a little time outside I see a huge improvement with him.
