XP: We have been having some trouble with DD waking up 2 hours after we put her down to bed (I posted earlier about this). I mentioned to DH that I thought that I might need to move her bedtime up a little because she was over tired when we were putting her down around 8PM. She usually goes down around 8 and wakes up while we are getting ready for work between 6 and 7AM. She used to take 2 naps a day but about 3 weeks ago she was moved to a new daycare room where they have them all down to one nap between 12 and 3 -- DD usually does not make it until 3. We have tried to do the same schedule on the days she is with us or MIL. So I am wondering if this nap change has made her more tired a the end of the day. I used to be able to start her bedtime routine - bath every other night - bottle and then take her back to her room for books between 7:30 and 7:45. Lately she has been fast asleep when we go back to her room. Sometimes I stir her and read her one quick book (because I want her to continue to go to sleep on her own) and sometimes I put her right down asleep.
So I am thinking this pushing her bedtiem until she is on the verge of sleep might be disrupting the quality of sleep she is getting. What time is your LO's bedtime?
Re: what time does your 13 month old go to bed?
DD goes to sleep around 7:15.
I have heard that when you drop a nap, you should try moving bedtime earlier.
Almost 13 months soon..... DS goes to bed at 6pm and gets up at 6am. We have to wake him up at 6am during the week because DH needs to be out the door with him by 630am but DS is a 12 hour sleeper. On the weekends he will sleep till 7/730am but that's because we may keep him up a bit till 630pm/7pm. 7pm at the latest.
I'm sure your little one is struggling with the one nap....an earlier bedtime would let her go to sleep when she truly is tired instead of being over tired!

DD goes to bed around 8 p.m. and will sleep for 12-13 hours on average.
We try for 6:30 but it's usually more like 7 or 7:30 when we get her in her crib and she falls sleep almost instantly. She wakes up btw 5:45 and 6:30 most mornings.
She naps once for 1-2 hrs at daycare 4 days/wk, and 2 naps a day for 1.5-2 hrs each on the 3 days we're home.
At 13 months, DS went to bed at 7 each night - and slept until about 7:30/8:00 in the morning. At that point, he still took two naps.
We just transitioned him to one nap a day though - and he now is in bed by 6:30. He just can't make it to 7 anymore! He still gets up at the same time in the morning ... I suspect your LO might be struggling with the same transition issues. Good luck!!
At 13 months (and now) 630 is our goal, reality is usually more like 645 or so. They both sleep until 530/600am. Not fun but even w/ a later bedtime they won't sleep past 6am more than once in awhile.
I'd try the early bedtime, we're big believers in it & the overtiredness stuff, esp if LO goes to DC and is transitioning to the one nap. We do even earlier bedtime (6pm) when they start to have a lot of waking up & going to bed issues, per Dr. Weissbluth & it works pretty well!
