I heard on the radio this morning that the FBI has issued a warning against purchasing some new Barbie doll that Mattel ihas put out. Apparently she videos things, and then your daughter or son can pop in the video and see them playing with Barbie "through her eyes" or something like that.
Anyway, the FBI issued a warning that it could be used to distribute child pornography. I don't think there are any actual cases of that happening yet, but I thought it was interesting.
Re: Speaking of Barbie - FBI warning
It seems like a stretch to me. I think if a pedophile has his eyes on a child then he will try any which way to get what he is looking for, whether a doll with a camera is involved or not.
I think that spending $50 on a doll with a built-in camera is odd though.
I can't wait until DD will be playing with barbies!!! I'm with you, old fashion/traditional barbies are what it's all about.
I think they were just trying to warn law enforcement but it got leaked to the public. It makes sense in a way...a toy with a video camera could be used to entice a child I guess. But only in a "heads up, police," kind of way.
But yeah, I find that doll creepy too! Can you imagine actually using it? I picture a kid walking around holding her doll out in front of her like a zombie. Although what you'll probably get is lots of unwatchable video of the thing being thrown around. Who could keep that still? So weird, and so expensive.
