Stomach Virus?

My DS has had runny stools for at least 7 days now. We took him to his Doctor Saturday and they told us it was more than likely a stomach virus and it would go away on its own. Then he told us if it wasn't gone by this wednesday to bring him back in and they would do some test. We were in there about two wks ago bc he was constipated and had blood in his stools which they test and just ruled it out to be constipation. Now He is pooping 7x a day and he has a really bad diaper rash. I called the doctor and they don't seem to worried and I'm wondering if any of you ladies little ones have had a stomach virus last this long? I was also wondering besides diaper rash creams what other things could help soothe Ds diaper rash? I'm taking him back to the doctor tomorrow to get him checked out again bc he is in so much pain from the diaper rash and I'm pretty concerned about him.

Mine had a stomach virus at about 4mos that lasted a couple weeks.  They were premature and it was awful at that age.  They didn't get diaper rash though.  GL tomorrow.
