I'll have to admit I was a little bummed at the thought of teachers throwing stuff away.
So this year, I'm thinking of gift cards ($20 or so) for Gabby and Bella's teachers for a beauty salon? I know where both teachers go so hopefully it will be something they use. As for Gabby's speech teacher, $10 GC for Starbucks or somewhere like that.
Plus I always make a plate of goodies (brownies, cookies and chocolate covered pretzels).
Would this be an ok gift to give? Otherwise I have to think of something else.
TIA

Re: Teacher's gifts... would this be ok?
I think it sounds great if you know where they go. Otherwise, target's great!
BTW-I always appreciate baked goods in tins instead of plates if you can swing it. It can be hard to transport the plates.
Sounds awesome...totally useable and something they will appreciate!
And just to clarify...I don't throw away gifts because I don't like them or don't appreciate the thought that went into the gift. It's just that I have 30 students and if they all give me little knick knacks or teacher mugs or candy/cookies or whatever it is, I just can't keep it all. Even after just 6 years of teaching, I'd need a whole room in my house for all that stuff. I REALLY appreciate when parents give me something useable or even when the whole class can go in on something together.
Gift cards and edible gifts are FAR more appreciated than the little knick-knacks.
I've donated quite a few gifts to Goodwill over the years, but the treats always get eaten and the giftcards always get spent!
And a hint... if you have the opportunity, ask the teacher's neighboring teacher (or co-teacher or whomever he/she might work closely with) for store ideas for giftcards. If they can give you a specific store, it's HUGELY appreciated by the teacher that you made the extra effort to find out where they shop.

Thanks for the feedback. And I totally understand.... I mean, what can you really do with 100 #1 Teacher Coffee Mugs?
