Re: ** PG > 35 Weekly-Check in ~ December 7, 2010 **

  • Hi - my first time checking in:

    screen name: Jen&Louie
    first name: Jen
due date: Possibly 8/8/11 (not positive @ LMP date)
sex of baby: Will keep a surprise

Updates: I just got my BFP today (also my 36th birthday!).  I'm feeling fine now - exactly like I did with my last pregnancy, a bit crampy but otherwise fine.

    Question of the Week (QOTW):
Best: Put your feet up at the end of the day, drink LOTS of water and ask for help.  Worst? "Get as much sleep as you can before the baby arrives" - that was when I was in my last couple of weeks with DS and finding a comfortable position to sleep was nearly impossible. Made the advice useless.

Morning sickness is better with Zofran or when I eat lemon sour stuff and I have to get a fix on buffalo wings (with ranch). I don't really feel pregnant until I roll over and feel like I am squishing the baby. Just felt a little fluttering this morning, so that was a relief.

Now your eating for two so eat up is the worst ever or boy are you going to be busy with two kids, ummm duh people, lol.

(we haven't told anyone yet so these are from my last 2 pregnancies...)

Best:  Unisom (insert huge sigh of relief!).

Worst:  any and all m/s advice.  I suffer from hyperemisis which is a hell unto itself.  Unisom brings it down so that I'm "only" nauseous all day and throw up once or twice.  Otherwise I'm in the hospital.  It's not "just" morning sickness and crackers and giner ale won't help.  But thank you.

  • I see I'm on the list as being due in January.  I lost that pregnancy but am now pregnant again and due on August 7th.

As for how I'm feeling I guess scared would be a good word.  I'm so worried about losing another baby but trying to remain positive that this one will work out.  Right now my symptoms are mainly heartburn but I'm hoping for more soon.

QOTW - Best piece of advice is to just try and enjoy every minute because it really does fly by.  The worst advice is when people comment on how I am getting too old to keep trying to have kids.

Kelly, Mom to Christopher Shannon 9.27.06, Catherine Quinn 2.24.09, Trey Barton lost on 12.28.09, Therese Barton lost on 6.10.10, Joseph Sullivan 7.23.11, and our latest, Victoria Maren 11.15.12

Secondary infertility success with IVF, then two losses, one at 14 weeks and one at 10 weeks, then success with IUI and then just pure, crazy luck.  Expecting our fifth in May as the result of a FET.

  • your screen name: Melanie1119
    first name (optional): Melanie
due date: August 4 (My doc changed it on me!  it was the 5th)
sex of baby (if known, or will it be a surprise?):  we don't know yet.. I would like it to be a surprise, but my hubby wants to find out.  He may win this one.  :)

first baby for me!  we're so excited.  I've been feeling pretty good, though very tired.  other symptoms include occasional cramping, backpain, headache, the usual.  Not too much nauseau yet.. hoping it stays that way!

Thanks for the roll call!  it is nice to see everyone and their due dates!

    Melanie, age 38, 5 weeks, 4 days PG with #1 !!

  • This is definitely the most stressful week so far for us. Received quad screen results on Monday with a 1:16 chance of DS.

Tomorrow we're making the 6.5 hour drive through the snow to the nearest place that can do an amnio. Early in the pregnancy when still learning everything, we felt an amnio was to be avoided because of the m/c risk but not with those numbers. Now we just need to know.

No advice yet -- good or wacky -- because we've still avoided telling most people and this is our first. We just got married in March. It's been an eventful year...

  • Hi, I'm checking in, but don't have much of an update.

I've been feeling well, although I'm starting to not sleep as well.  I've caught myself snoring a few times over the past week or so.  With my 1st pregnancy I didn't have many sleep issues at all and I didn't start snoring until the 8th month or so!

As far as advice goes... I can't think of any that I've recieved this pregnancy.  The best advice that I received when I was pregnant with my first was for DH and I to go out to dinner and the movies and such with my DH as much as possible.  I wish I'd done it more!  I feel like we rarely get out now that we're parents.

  • Update: Not much of an update from me either.  Work has been a bit stressful lately, and I'm trying hard not to let it get to me.  I'm feeling a little overwhelmed by the approach of holidays because I have less energy than I thought I would have by now.  Seems I can't get to bed when I should don't sleep that well (I'm hoping for a good pillow for Xmas), and yet I still don't get much accomplished.  My 16 week OB appointment is on Monday, so I'm looking forward to that.

QOTW: So far the best advice I've gotten is reminders to rest, oh, and to always carry Tums with me!  Seems like the only time in my life when I'm allowed to slow down.  Trouble is actually doing so, though.  So I suppose the advice is great in theory but hard to practice.  Worst advice?  I'd have to agree about suggestions on how to deal with m/s.  What works and what doesn't changes so quickly (day to day even) and nothing is predictable.  Rest seems to be the only thing that really helps me.

My due date is June 28, 2011
I'll find out the sex next month, and I can't wait!

  • Hi Ladies! Just finished month two and that was a rollercoaster. Started much more smoothly than it did last time with DS but then crazy nausea, worse than with DS, built and built coupled with awful fatigue. Bleagh! But this week it eased becoming more manageable and I am SO grateful. Makes me appreciate mild to moderate nausea. Sad. My boobs continue to blossom alarmingly and they are so sore I can hardly stand it! This symptom is ever with me this time.

The best advice I got was to get TWO body pillows, one extra long, and support my back with one and hug the other and tuck it between my knees in front. Oh, that brought me untold comfort as I got bigger. I will totally be deploying them in a few months. DH will just have to make room!

Worst advice? Most of that was easy to spot and ignore so I've forgotten most of it. If anything, it was to stop eating once you feel labor start at home. That is just bananas. Who knows how long you'll labor at home before you go to the hospital or birth center? I had small snacks and drinks of apple juice and, wow, that got me through.
