Today's work day feels like Christmas

I teach self-contained middle school special ed.  This morning, I come in to find out my boy with autism and schizophrenia is not here (I love him, but he is a handful) and my one on one aide for my student with Down Syndrome is starting today!  Also, one of my kids who has cerebral palsy was supposed to get full casts on his legs yesterday and we thought that mean wheelchair bound and that we'd have to bathroom him.   He WALKS in today with walking casts!  And to top it all off, I did some consulting work with an educational corporation on developing special ed products and they sent me a surprise $90 worth of "thank you" materials for free.

Sorry if this doesnt make sense to anyone else, but in SPED world, this is a WONDERFUL day!!!!

  • That does sound like a great day! Thanks for the work you are doing. My mom was a special ed teacher for years and I saw what a challenging (but rewarding) career choice it is. Hope you have more days like this!
