Hi Ladies,

 

I am devastated to be joining you but hoping for peace. I went for my 1st ultrasound yesterday at 10 weeks 2 days and baby measured 8 weeks with no heartbeat. Doc is checking my 2nd beta's tomorrow but I can't imagine anything good will come of it. I had no cramping or bleeding the entire pregnancy.

 

I guess my question is after the D&C, how long should we wait to try again? I know some docs say 2 months-- is that to just regulate your cycle?

the same thing happened to me and i had a D&C in October.  My doctor told me to wait until my levels were back to normal (really she said 0 - 10 was acceptable) and to wait until after my first visit from AF.  she also stressed that my husband and i BOTH needed to be emotionally ready.

 my levels are finally back to normal and i did just have my visit from AF (exacly a month after the D&C).  i'm still going back and forth on if i'm ready or not.

I'm so sorry you're going through all of this but you'll find a lot of comfort and support from everyone on this board.  You'll find that we've all had a different experience as far as waiting to try again.  All of our doctors give different recommendations.  My understanding is you'll need to wait a minimum of 2 weeks post procedure to prevent infection.  ((hugs))

I would wait however long your doctor suggests. A lot of doctors want you to wait to give your lining enough time to thicken again.

I'm so sorry   I had a natural mc, and my doctor told us to wait 3 full cycles (not months).  He said that's what he generally recommends, to give my body time to fully recover and be prepared for pregnancy again.  But every doctor is different, so yours could very likely tell you to just wait until you get AF once.

I am sorry that you had to join this board, but the ladies on here are great and know what you're going through.I had a D&C yesterday and my doctor said no sex/tampons until my follow-up appointment on the 20th. She recommended we wait at least one cycle and possibly two depending on how my DH and I feel emotionally. It also gives your body time to recuperate from the procedure My doctor said most women get their AF 2 to 6 weeks after the D&C. I hope this helps.
