Where should I register?

I've begun to start thinking about my registry, but I'm having a bit of a dilemma. DH and I live in a small town that doesn't have a Target or a BabiesRUs. (Target is MY FAVORITE, but I refuse to register there anyway.) The only thing we have in town is Walmart and a small specialty boutique. I'm from the Tampa Bay area and will be having a shower down there, but I'll probably be having two showers up here. I want to register at BRU, but is that rude to the people that live here?(The church ladies in the south take the whole baby shower thing very seriously). I hate Walmart with a passion and my mother downright refuses to shop there. Would it be ok to only register at BRU and the boutique in town?

    I think that registering at BRU and the Boutique is fine.... If people want to shop in person, they can go to the boutique... Or they can shop online at BRU.com - the internet is a wonderful thing.

    But, because in-person shopping is somethign some people like to do, then either expect lots of random gifts that could come from anywhere... or just register for some essentials at Walmart... diapers, bottles, etc. maybe name brand stuff?

    You don't have to tell the folks in Tampa Bay about the Walmart registry though.... just use it for a local shower, you know?

    I agree with PP.  Register at Walmart for your local shower and BRU for your Tampa Bay shower and for those who prefer to shop online.  

    Personally, my family is more last-minute and will shop a lot more in-store than they will online.  I'll have one registry through BRU and one probably through diapers.com - both offer completion discounts.

    we had this dilemma from the wedding. Half of DH's family is from a TINY town that only has a Walmart 20 minutes away. We did BB&B for the people here and a small Walmart one for the people over there.

    You may also want to look into www.diapers.com. They have an awesome return policy and free shipping on purchases over $50. I know $50 will be high for some people, but I would rather spend $50 on a gift, than $35 gift and $15 shipping. They also pay for return shipping :)

    We are registering at Amazon.com maybe a very small one at BRU for those that need to go in to buy something, and then one at Giggle--which is more boutique and not all over the US.

    I am opposed to shopping/supporting either Walmart or Target, and I am compromising on BRU (if we decide to go that route).

    Laughing. Those Southern ladies? I know exactly what you're talking about. Don't worry, they won't buy a darn thing off your reigstry anyway, just a bunch of handmade blankets.

    BRU + Amazon. Even old people shop online now ;-)
