ROSEOLA??

Hi ladies,

first sorry for the dup. post! whoops.

But this weekend my DD had this or what I can almost be certain was roseola. I work in a school and i've seen this a thousand times. But when it's your LO you just kind of freak out. Last week she was slightly cranky and ran a low grade fever, never over 101. I know usually the fever with roseola is typically 103 or more. But then this weekend had the Rash? Has anyone ever experienced this. What did you do for it if anything? How long does the rash last? its been going on since sat.

Re: ROSEOLA??

  • He started running a temp a little over 103 on a Friday afternoon.  It finally broke Sunday or Monday. The rash showed up on Tuesday and stayed for about 3 days.

  • Oh, and we gave his some children's benadryl (off-brand) at night for the itchy rash.

  • For us, the rash was very short lived...maybe 24-48 hours?  We went to the pedi because I didn't know what it was, and she said it was Roseola.  We were told to give her Benedryl (or the store brand) for the rash since it is uncomfortable for them.
  • For us, he started running a temperature of about 103.7 on a Friday afternoon.  The fever fianlly broke on Saturday night/Sunday morning.  He started to get a rash on his belly late afternoon on Sunday.  The rash started on his belly, spread to his thighs, then out to his face and feet.  The rash finally wnent away on Wednesday.  He was only cranky and fussy when he had the fever, for which we gave him Tylenol.  The rash wasn't itchy and didn't make him uncomfortable, so we didn't give him anything for the rash.  Good luck!
