High-Risk Pregnancy

annoyed and worried

So I went to the endocrinologist yesterday. He was recommended by my OB due to some weird numbers on my A1C and this is the second time I've seen him.

He doesn't prescribe my diabetes medication. He checked the numbers, but he really doesn't do the monitoring. I had one 3am very low number (60) and he freaked out. So he adjusted my medication timing (not the dosage).

I followed his recommendation last night and my fasting number was WAY high this morning ... higher than it's been since early pregnancy. And I just did my breakfast number and it was high too!!!!

I'm so irritated by this. I'm going to make a note of it on my log, but I hate that he was messing with a good thing and that my numbers are wacky today already (btw, for breakfast I ate the same thing I always eat).

Re: annoyed and worried

  • That is always so annoying when that happens.  If you were low during the night, maybe you should have a snack.  With DD, I had to drink some milk during the night.

  • My diabetic educator and endo both told me 60 is not low when you are pg.

Anything under 60 is bad. I have been dealing with low 30's and a couple 29's in the last week, so there have been a lot of adjustments on my medication, but it seems to be working.

So I would think if you weren't going below 60 then there is no reason to change your medication or timing.

    Good luck.
