do you get up to pump? DS just started sleeping from 8AM until about 4AM, up to eat, then back down until 6:30 or 7. should i set an alarm and get up to pump? i have been waking around 3AM, engorged, but not wanting to pump then because i am afraid he will wake soon. but don't want my supply to tank either.
Re: this has been asked a thousand time re pumping and STTN
If you have supply issues then you should get up. I don't, DS has STTN since 8 weeks. During the work week I get up at 5:30 and pump go through my morning routine and get DS up at 6:45, change and feed him then take him to the sitters. I pump at 11:30, pick him up at 4:00- he's never hungry so we go home he plays and watches sesame street while I pump. Normally that's enough for the next day- my supply struggled last week so I added a pumping just before I went to bed and I'm back to 3 pumpings with 50 oz to freeze by the end of the week.
Maybe you could try pushing back the pumping by 1/2 an hour every couple of days to let your body adjust.
ETA: on the weekend I wait for him to wake me up (usually around 7:30), feed him and then pump within an hour. I don't pump at all the rest of the day.
DD has been sleeping through the night since she was 2 months old I have never gotten up in the middle of the night to pump. You milk supply with adjust its self and if you DS happens to get up in the middle of the night for some reason and want to eat your supply will adjust again.
I have been doing this for 2 months now and have not had a problem with supply issues.
me too
