I really thought I could keep a secret...

So we had our weekly family dinner tonight.  This time, we celebrated with a good amount of extended family because it was my uncle's birthday.  Just last weekend, we told my parents and 2 siblings.  DH and I decided we could wait until Christmas to announce to everyone else in our families, but that didn't happen...

I am VERY close to my grandmother, always have been, and seeing her tonight at dinner I just had this overwhelming feeling that I needed to share this amazing news with her.  So I did.  She was so overjoyed, we both cried and embraced for a long time, and I knew that I had made the right choice in telling her.  DH is so supportive of anything I decide to do, so once he saw her reaction, he was fine with it as well.  Of course, I then had to tell my grandfather, a few aunts, uncles, and a couple of cousins.  But it was all worth it when I saw how happy everyone was!  I know it will probably get out to the rest of my extended family, but we are okay with that.  No matter what happens in this pregnancy, we will always need/want the support and love of our families.

Thanks for listening- I just wanted to share. :)  It was another special day for our family.  Hope everyone else is doing a better job of keeping "your secret!" Haha.

  • Secret schmecret, it's your news. Given that my lines were only faint (but there yesterday) we haven't told anyone yet. Tonight my BIL and SIL (sil is one of my besties) were over and I managed to keep the secret and I'm proud of myself.

I think it's so much better to tell people in person so if it gets out, so what.

  • We had a Christmas dinner last night and as I was leaving my aunt and uncle went up to my sister (she is the only one that knows) and said, "what's up with your sister?"  My sis played dumb and they asked why I wasn't drinking. I had a "fake" glass of wine in front of me but I guess they noticed that I wasn't touching it all night. So later that night I got cornered by my aunt and DH got cornered by my uncle.  Why are people so nosey? I'll tell when I want to tell.  So I'm sure now the rest of the family will slowly find out.  I had to go out today and tell my parents because I didn't want the news to get to them secondhand.

  • I can't keep a secret, I have already shared it.
  • Oh I know better than to think I can keep my mouth shut lol.  The second that test turned positive, I was dying to tell somebody (both the with my pregnancy with DS and this one).  Of course, this time I had to wait AAAALLL day until DH got home because I didn't want to tell him on the phone.  That was so difficult.  I kept thinking to myself, "I need to update my facebook with this news."  Then I'd remember, "no, you can't do that until you've told DH." lol  I'm dreadful at keeping awesome news to myself.  Plus, if something does happen and I miscarry, I know I'll have the support of all my friends and family to get me through that rough time.
