No TV=kind of nice!

I posted a while back that DH is always watching TV!  Well, he is having a hard time at work right now and we both work on 100% commission.  We got a little behind on the cable bill and they shut it off on Thursday.  We are out of our contract and were thinking of shopping around anyways but we haven't turned it back on yet.  DH is pretty lazy when it comes to having to make calls and such and I don't really watch too much TV, sooo we havnen't bothered to have them turn it back on.  It's actually really nice, I got so many errands done today and we both got our business stuff organized last night before going to work.  I kind of like this!

  • We have gone over 2 years with out TV. I watch my favorite shows online (Grey's Anatomy and Desperate Housewives) but other than that we only watch movies sometimes. I don't want to pay $100 a month for TV, I could use the money elsewhere.

  • We decided to try going tv-less for the first year of our marriage. Five years later, we still haven't gotten one. No regrets!

  • TV is too easy for both of us to get addicted to.  Literally at nights one is on the computer while the other is on the TV.  We got rid of our cable in the summer and haven't looked back.  We do have netflix, which is a nice compromise.  I watch a show or 2 on line, and there are a lot to choose from on netflix.  There are also a lot of kid shows which are all essentially on demand.  We got rid of our home phone and got magic jack.  We are saving 100 a month at least!
  • When we moved in May we decided to not get cable. We thought we would try it out. We realized that we were spending way too much time in our life making accomodations to watch the shows we wanted. It has been amazing not having cable! No commercials, the TV isn't always on, it's bliss! We also have netflix and purchased some of our favorite shows on DVD but we have realized how much more time we spend together playing, goofing off, and doing fun things outside of the house. We aren't planning on getting cable again any time soon. Oh we also went from 3 tvs (one in our room, office, and livingroom) to just one. It's amazing!
