Stripping zinc from BG 3.0s...NOT WORKING

So we were dumb and used a zinc oxide-based diaper cream with our BG 3.0, no liner.  So of course they are repelling.  I tried scrubbing them with a nail brush and Dawn followed by several hot-hot-hot washes - no dice.  Then tried a wash w/ baking soda followed by vinegar in the rinse.  Nothing.  So I just got some RLR and am going to try that.  Any other suggestions?

Re: Stripping zinc from BG 3.0s...NOT WORKING

  • Ok. This is crazy advice. I don't blame you for doing an eye roll and moving on. However, I swear it worked for us.

Use goo-gone. Give it a spritz and it'll scrub right out in the sink. I mean glistening clean. The diapers stunk like orange scented gasoline for a good six to ten washings after that. We didn't put them on M, just kept throwing the infected covers in with the wash time after time after time. Eventually, when we couldn't tell which were the infected covers, we just started using them again. Never had a rash or irritation.
