spent the day at L&D feeling a little scared...

So I didn't or haven't done much out of the ordinary but taking it easy and resting as much as possible like the doc has told me. Today after my nap I was still laying in bed and started to feel really bad craming above pubic bone. I have never felt that before and knew something wasn't right. Called my OB told the office my husband was taking me to hospital. I get there they hook me up to the monitors and saw that I was contracting 4-5 times every like 30 seconds, Mind you the pain started at 2:15pm and at 4:30 it still wasn't going away. They checked the babies and cervix and gave me 2 shots of brethine is it? It felt relieving a bit but the contractions were still there on and off this time but not constant like it was. The u/s showed babies were fine and my cervix is closed and measuring 3.5. Last week it was 4.2 but the nurse said 3.5 was really good, but umm i was 4.2 just last week..I also saw that the fluids for baby A were like a 17.8 something and baby B was a 9 point something, so i asked if that ok and nurse said yes but I don't know if it is or not and quite frankly she didn't seem assertive and sure with wth shes talking about! They did tell me if it happens again they'll have to admit me for monitoring. Have this happened to any of you and were still able to deliver full or close to full term? :(

Re: spent the day at L&D feeling a little scared...

  • Glad they got things calmed down for you!  I started having contractions early with my 7 year old twins and was in the hospital for the last two weeks of that pregnancy.  They were 36 weeks along.  So, way to listen to your body!!!
  • did they put you on meds to take at home? I assume you are officialy on bed rest now for real?  no idea re: the measurments, etc - but i would tend to trust the nurses- they do this all day long... not that mistakes are never made- but if all the nurses and the docs are saying it's OK i wouldn't stress too much.

    rest up and keep cookin!

  • No, no meds to take home just rest up pretty much..and listen to my  body if it happens again. Luckly I have an appointment with my perinatalogist first thing in the morning on Monday. I plan to spend this weekend in bed and drinking..I hope these little guys can hang on till at least after 34 weeks! I have faith...
