Anyone have low thyroid probs after pregnancy?

I'm curious if anyone was diagnosed with this after pregnancy? I would've had no idea- I don't feel really any different, no weight issues, which are some of the symptoms. I'm tired but I figured that's normal running around after a little one all day. I have always had very low blood pressure but when I went for physical the other day- it was extremely low so doc sent me for tests and determined this and prescribed meds. He said it can happen after pregnancy.

Has anyone had this and did you feel any different and did meds help? TIA

Re: Anyone have low thyroid probs after pregnancy?

  • yes and it took me about a year or so to actually go talk to the doctor. He sent me for a blood test and came back low thyroid. We had to do a few tests to get the dosage for the medication right but it's good now. I was always soooo tired, having a hard time with weight loss and I just felt something was not right. Things have been better for the past 3 months I have to get blood work done again at the end of the month to recheck my levels. I was upset for a while about taking medication but got over it. I'm just glad I found out what was wrong, my doc said my levels were really low, when I asked how low compaired to normal he went into explaining what happens if they get very low and that scared me. Hope all goes well and GL!

  • I got diagnosed with hypothyroidism about a year after they were born. Dr said he hardly ever sees levels like mine and was surprised I wasn't having heart problems. But I felt fine, a little tired but I am a full time working mother of twins so...that's pretty expected. Oh, and my hair absolutely, positively would NOT grow. He put me on synthroid and I've been taking it for 3 months now, I do notice a difference in my energy levels (thank goodness!) but thats about it, and my levels have been back in the normal ranges. I go back later this month to see if we can reduce the meds a litle, but I'm gonna be on them for the rest of my life
