First, my appointment was at 9:50am. I get there at 9:45 and am placed in the waiting room. Until 10:30! Give my urine sample, head to the room.... and WAIT until 10:45!!! And they wonder WHy my blood pressure was semi high??! (130/83)
Then, the doctor (not my normal doctor, got a referral when I found out I was pregnant because my doctor does not do maternity) looks confused and asks if I am SURE when my LMP was. I say yes, but like I mentioned on the first appointment, I was TTC for 5+ years and temp, and KNOW my O date... am a late ovulater etc..... and he says, well we need to adjust your may 30th EDD to fit the U/S reading! LOL!
REALLY?? I mentioned I would be due on June 9th, so he sits for a good 5 minutes and then says, Yes, June 9th! LOL
Then he tries for a heartbeat for ohhh about 15-20 seconds! And says, nope, no heartbeat, it is still too early! (13 weeks) but 20 seconds is not a good try! MAYBE if you would not be So far behind and keep your appointments waiting for an hour, then you could make this appointment worth my stress!
The only good thing, I only gained 4 lbs in the 1st tri and he gave me meds for my pneumonia.
next appointment in a month.
Re: frustrating appointment yesterday - vent
That sucks! I absolutely HATE waiting for doctors!
Especially that early in the day. I can see if you're the last patient of the day that the office could be running behind, there was an emergency, another appointment was late, ect. But to make you wait an hour at 10am is unprofessional!
And 13w isn't super early to use a doppler. (I heard DS at 12w.) Did he offer to check with an u/s?
We dont have U/S machines in our doctors offices, so no. He said we would hear it at the next appointment for sure! LOL Well, duh, I will be 17 weeks, we better!
I have a doppler and believe I have heard it at home, so I am not over concerned, but jeeze doctor, do your job a little kinder!
That's ridiculous. Did they at least apologize about the wait? I had an appointment today that started something like 10 minutes late and everyone was super apologetic. An hour is unbelievable!
Also, I would be super frustrated he didn't try for more than 20 seconds to find the heartbeat. 13 weeks is NOT too early. Again, at my appointment today, it took her about a minute, but she found it. He was probably just worried about how far behind they were, but since you waited for an hour, you deserve the best care while you have his time!
Better luck next time
