Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

My boss told me yesterday...

He has to lay me off. He did me an amazing favor by telling me yesterday instead of waiting till Dec 30th like his bosses told him to. Now I have to keep this secret for a month.  I am sad because I love the people. Money is going to be very tight. I am hoping I can find something else soon. My goal is to not have to take DS out of daycare. He loves it and it just wouldnt be fair to do it to him if we can avoid it.  So my last day of work is Dec 30...  I am feeling a little overwhelmed now. DH told me not to worry. We will make it work for as long as we need to and I should wait for a job that I love.  Heres hoping an awesome job will come soon!

  • Well that was incredibly nice for him to tell you early, now you have a jump start in looking for a new job. That kind of sucks how they are doing it during the holidays though, but who knows, maybe this can lead to bigger and brighter things for you.

This. And don't forget to contact your unemployment office to let them know you'll be laid off at the end of the month....Then you can start receiving benefits (sooner) incase you don't find a job!

    Good luck to you!

  • That really stinks, sorry. It was nice of h im to tell you now though. Maybe you can work out a deal w/ DC to have him go 2days a week for a certain amt. If you can wait for the job you love, go for it. Sounds like hubby is supportive!! GL

  • So sorry to here. you'll get through it and everything will work out.

DH was let go in March. I was home on mat leave, he calls me and tells me he's coming home early b/c he and his coworkers were laid off. I cried and panicked  b/c we just had Nick, and the little savings we had went into getting a new car b/c the other one got flooded and into fixing up LOs room. We thought we'd have time to build it back up again. I budgeted out our finances and worked everything out to the penny. Even though unemployment isn't as much as his paycheck was, we manage.

The good news is that he received a call on Monday saying that they want to hire him, but they are in talks of whether he'd be able to work from here or if he would have to work at the co. location all the way across the country. I'm ready for whatever. I was planning to begin looking for a job anyway, and if we have to move they'll pay the moving expenses and they'd help me find a job too.
