Zero to 60....

Does anyone else's LO seemingly go from (what my husband calls) "zero to sixty"? My 7 week old DD will be in my arms, having just nursed, fresh diaper, looking up at me, smiling and cooing - and then BAM! Her face will grimace and she'll start wailing. I can call her almost immediately by putting the pacifier in (or my sanity sucker, as I call it), but it's just strange to me that NOTHING in her environment will change, and she'll just start screaming.

Is this weird, or just normal baby stuff? Any insight to this exhausted first time Mom is appreciated! Confused

Re: Zero to 60....

  • both my kids did this.  however the paci NEVER settled my son, OR my daughter.  I would love to learn how to get her to take a paci and not just cry and be rocked back to sleep.

I am not sure what causes this, but I think it is totally normal.

  • I am no doctor or expert, but I think its gas pains.  All their parts are brand new and they are figuring out how to work.  While the gas may not be painful, I think it is an uncomfortable, new feeling and it bothers them.  Then when the gas passes they settle back down.

Z did this ALOT, he would be happily sleeping or smiling and all the sudden he was arching his back and screaming.  Now at almost 11 weeks this happens very rarely and he is much happier these days!!

  • My boys do this too. They're happy, smiling, cooing, dry and fed one minute and screaming the next. My H also calls it 0-60 too! It's really awesome when both twins do it at the same time. :( Can't wait till they grow out of this phase. Assuming it's just a phase!
