Gripe Water

I bought some Gripe Water tonight for my LO who is 5 weeks 3 days. After he ate tonight I gave him some just in the syrienge that they give you. I gave it to him a little at a time, really slow and put it to the side of his mouth. He seemed fine, but then started coughing so I picked him up and patted his back and he kept coughing but seemed to be turning purple (scared the crap outta me since I was home alone). He finally caught his breath and is fine now, but my question is Do you give the Gripe Water with anything like it says you can on the box (Apple Juice or Water)? I would think that my LO is too young for Apple Juice? Just wanted to see how other people did it.

When I give it to DD, I let her suck on her binky after.  I do this every time she takes any meds.  Seems to help her swallow it.

I put it in a bottle with breastmilk, or if LO already ate I will put it in the nipple of a bottle and she will take it that way.

Agree with pp, binkies help with the swallowing. Also, take it really slow otherwise they get choked. I didn't think I was giving R too much, but it was still enough to make him cough. And you can mix it with a bottle of BM or formula too.

this. i also just ordered that medicine binky from colic calm. haven't received it yet but sounds like a nice product for this purpose.
