Christmas tree

Are you putting some sort of gate around the Christmas tree to prevent LO from pulling it down on himself?  I'm debating whether this will be necessary.  We're getting a 7 foot real tree - I think he could probably pull it over if he really tried but I don't know...

It'd be nice not to have to spend the money on a gate!  What are you doing?

Re: Christmas tree

  • Not gate.  I'll  put the breakable ornaments up on top where the girls can't reach them and call it a day.

  • I'm going to wait and see how he does first (putting up the tree this weekend).  If he just will not listen, then I'm going out to buy a gate.
  • No gate, DS really doesn't have any interst in it, which totally surprised me. Now wrapped presents under the tree may be a different story, we'll see.

  • We connected two wires from the tree to the wall.  All ornaments are out of reach and we're keeping an eye on her.
  • No gate. She was fascinated by the tree the first couple of days and now she barely glances at it.
  • We put up our tree yesterday and surprisingly the cats have knocked off more ornaments then DS.  We have most of the ornaments up top though.  He likes to tap the branches because it makes a "tinkling" noise but has really lost interest.  I have already had to re-wrap a few gifts though.  Our presents won't be under the tree until Christmas.
  • a lot of people anchor the tree to the wall/ceiling so lo cant pull it down on top of themselves. Honestly I just put breakables on the top so there arent glass splinters in baby hands or feet if they grab them and I dont think the tree is heavy enough to hurt her if she manages to pull it down. Mine is not particularly interested in the tree anyway however when it came out of the box she says "oooooooh thank you!!!!"
